Appleton Estate

Journey of Jamaican Elegance

At Montego Bay Airport in Jamaica, Appleton Estate unveiled a connected travel retail experience celebrating the brand’s craftsmanship and heritage.

"Redefining Travel Retail with a Connected Journey from Cane to Cup."

Set within Appleton’s duty-free boutique, the installation guided travellers through the Journey of Jamaican Elegance.

The environment combined projection mapping, responsive lighting, and ASMR-inspired sound design, engaging all five senses to immerse visitors in the story of Appleton Estate.

Guests were invited to scan bottles to access detailed product insights and personal recommendations from Joy Spence, Appleton’s Master Blender.

Additional touchpoints extended the journey across the store. Visitors could unlock videos, discover cocktail recipes, and attach personalised messages for gifting, creating a bridge between storytelling, education, and purchase.

Retail Experience

The creative direction focused on shaping a content-driven, sensory experience that embodied Appleton’s Jamaican heritage.

Responsibilities included defining the narrative and user journey, directing content production, and collaborating with sound and lighting designers to ensure cohesion between storytelling and physical design.
The result was an experience that elevated Appleton Estate’s retail presence through immersive storytelling and technological innovation.

Approach

The Appleton Estate experience generated strong engagement and lasting brand recall among travellers.

Visitors spent extended time in-store interacting with the connected touchpoints, while scanning and replay rates reflected sustained interest in product education.

The activation strengthened Appleton’s position as a leader in premium connected retail, transforming a purchase moment into a cultural encounter. Its success led to the development of new experiential guidelines for future travel retail environments.
